Yet Another Zombie Survivors Unlock Checklist

This Yet Another Zombie Survivors unlock checklist turns version 1.0 progression into a sensible route: establish the core squad, open maps and harder modes, reach Ranger at Survival Level 175, enter Bio Lab, unlock Boss Rush per map, and separate formal achievements from optional Torments.

How to use this Yet Another Zombie Survivors checklist

An unlock route is not a mandatory speedrun order. It is a dependency map: some content requires account levels, some requires a specific map clear, and some opens separately for each area. Begin by checking the live interface because an existing Early Access save may already satisfy several conditions. Mark what is accessible, identify the nearest useful gate and choose a run that teaches the system needed for that gate. This avoids grinding a distant target while ignoring an easier unlock that would broaden the account.

Keep access, power and completion in separate columns. Access means a survivor, map or mode can be selected. Power means skill ranks, items or permanent bonuses make the content easier. Completion means an achievement, mission or optional challenge was finished. Mixing these categories creates confusion: unlocking Boss Rush is not the same as beating it, and a Torment is not required for Steam completion. The checklist below emphasizes confirmed version 1.0 dependencies and labels planning advice separately.

Phase one: establish the core account

Use early runs to learn movement, experience collection, recruitment and focused upgrades. Equip items, form a full squad and explore passive progression as those systems appear. Early Steam achievements provide visible confirmation for many basic actions, but the real objective is a stable run that can reach later map and mode gates. Spend permanent resources toward a named weakness rather than distributing them across every survivor immediately.

Unlock available survivors and ranks through the wording shown in the current game. Several Steam achievements explicitly mark survivor access and subsequent rank milestones, showing that roster progression is a central track. Do not assume the same threshold applies to every character. When a new survivor opens, run that character on familiar content before building a difficult unlock around the kit. Knowledge is part of progression even when the account screen does not display it as a number.

Phase two: open maps and their difficulty ladders

Progress through standard map requirements before targeting specialized modes. Each area teaches a different pressure pattern, and later versions of that area presume the player can already clear its baseline. Use a reliable squad to secure access, then revisit the map for Endurance, Hardcore, Extermination or other goals supported by the live menu. Confirm the selected mode before launching; a successful run under the wrong rule set may not unlock the intended next step.

Treat every map as its own dependency branch. The official version 1.0 rule for Boss Rush is per map, and it opens after that map's Hardcore mode. Therefore one Hardcore clear should not be assumed to unlock Boss Rush everywhere. Record map and mode together. This small detail prevents a common planning error where the player prepares for a Boss Rush route that remains locked because Hardcore was completed on a different arena.

Phase three: unlock Ranger at Survival Level 175

The official full-release changelog states that Ranger unlocks at Survival Level 175. Survival Level is long-term account progression, not a requirement to force in one run. Continue completing varied maps, missions, achievements and compatible build goals while the level rises. The Camp and Friendship systems can improve long-term Cash and Specialization gains through mission completion, so purposeful progression can be more useful than repeating an uninformative farming route solely for the counter.

When level 175 is reached, confirm Ranger in the live roster and read the current kit. Her official themes include a crossbow, animal companions, Critical Chance and Luck support, and ways to heal allies. Use the Ranger dossier before assigning her to a difficult route. Unlocking a character gives access, not automatic mastery. A few controlled attempts on familiar content will reveal which squad job needs support and which permanent nodes are available on the account.

Phase four: open Bio Lab through Dead Terminal

Version 1.0 states that Bio Lab unlocks after completing Dead Terminal on Default mode. Both parts matter: the correct map and Default rules. If Bio Lab remains locked, verify that the successful result was recorded under that combination and compare the current interface with the latest official hotfix notes. Do not assume an Endurance or Hardcore attempt substitutes for a specifically named Default clear unless the game now says so.

Once available, Bio Lab introduces a circular arena and an expanding toxic decontamination border according to the official release material. Enter with a functioning team rather than treating the first attempt as another unlock formality. Coverage, control and disciplined movement become important when usable space contracts. Completing the access condition and learning the arena are separate checklist items; mark both so a single unlock notification does not conceal the need for route-specific practice.

Phase five: unlock Boss Rush after Hardcore

The official rule says Boss Rush unlocks after Hardcore for each map. Select one arena whose normal route is already comfortable, clear its Hardcore mode, then confirm the Boss Rush option for that same arena. Repeat only when you want the mode on another map. This is more efficient than scattering attempts across every Hardcore branch before testing whether the compressed Boss Rush format suits the current account and team.

Boss Rush itself is an endgame test, with the final boss arriving at minute ten in the release description. Access alone does not guarantee readiness. Prepare a squad that can establish wave coverage quickly and retain focused damage for durable targets. Use the separate Boss Rush guide to plan the timer. If leaderboard performance is not the current goal, one map's unlocked mode can provide enough practice before expanding the checklist to all arenas.

Phase six: use Camp, missions and Friendship

The version 1.0 Camp, Mission Log and quest system add another progression branch. The official release lists 15 Main Story missions, 45 Survivor missions and 19 repeatable missions or quests. Completing missions contributes to Friendship, which permanently increases Cash and Specialization gains. Check the Mission Log between runs, choose a compatible objective and retry incomplete missions with a specific correction instead of hoping the tracker resolves itself during unrelated play.

Mission completion can support the route toward account-level and survivor goals, but do not stack requirements that fight one another. A character-specific mission may be a good time to learn that survivor; a strict achievement or Hardcore unlock may need an entirely different team. Use Quick Run when the next target is already clear. Visit the Camp when rewards, dialogue or mission selection changes the plan. Efficient progression means fewer contradictory objectives, not the maximum number of counters on one attempt.

Final checklist: achievements, Rank 5 and Torments

Version 1.0 added Rank 5 to survivor skill trees, with new synergy and passive nodes, and added 88 achievements. Treat those as ongoing account depth after the major access gates are open. Review Steam's current 141-achievement list by category, complete natural goals first and reserve specialized restrictions for planned runs. Record prerequisites for any build that depends on Rank 5 so another player does not confuse a permanent node with a baseline survivor effect.

Keep the 28 Torments last unless extreme optional challenges are the main reason you play. The official announcement says they are disconnected from achievements and unnecessary for 100 percent completion. This Yet Another Zombie Survivors unlock checklist therefore ends with a choice, not another mandatory box: pursue Torments for mastery, complete remaining achievements for the formal percentage, or deepen preferred squads and leaderboards. Recheck official notes after patches because a trustworthy checklist must change when the live dependencies change.
